The vortex of the modern internet

It's quite impressive (and scary) the ability that certain staple internet websites and apps have to rope you in for hours on-end until your head hurts, your mal-nourished, and still have not accomplished any of the things you originally wanted to do, yet you can't recall anything you've exposed yourself to except for just the previous few minutes. I've been extremely suceptible to this ever since I was in grade 7 (around 2015) and got my first laptop for school. Since then I have spent thousands upon thousands of hours sitting at my desk, mindlessly watching youtube, scrolling reddit, whatever, and not benefiting from any of it, except for maybe the spare few videos that actually had any educational value.

Thanks to an increased prescribed dose of my medication recently, I've had the motivation and energy to not have such a reliance on these activities as an escape from reality, and believe that my life has greatly improved because of it.
